Shield Technology Restore Rust Remover 250mL Cast Iron Protection

Remove stubborn rust simply and easily with Shield Technology Rust Remover.

Shield Technology Restore Rust Remover is a highly concentrated, fully biodegradable, liquid rust cleaner that you mix 19:1 with plain water, so one 250ml bottle will make five litres of finished strength product that can be re-used several times over.

Submerge your rusty item in the solution, and after a couple of hours the rust will have been dissolved. In extreme cases it may be necessary to rinse the part clean and return it to the solution for a second dip.

Unlike phosphoric acid or other acid-based products, Shield Technology Restore Rust Remover is approximately pH neutral, will not attack good metal, plastics or non-ferrous metals. It is best to remove any wooden handles though as the water will damage them.

Once the de-rusting process is complete, restore leaves the surface passivated - so there is no problem with post-treatment 'flash rusting' associated with acidic formulations. The other advantage is that when you are finished with it, you can simply pour it down the drain without damaging the environment.

For long term protection against further corrosion, we recommend Shield Technology MetalGuard Ultra, VanGuard or ToolGuard products.

Formulated, developed and produced in England.

FAQs
1. How long does it take for the rust remover to work?

The effectiveness of Shield Technology Rust Remover typically starts within minutes of application, with the total time required depending on the severity and depth of the rust. For light rust, results can be seen relatively quickly, while more heavily rusted items may need a longer soak, potentially up to 24 hours, for complete rust removal. Make sure to check the progress periodically and repeat the process if necessary to ensure all rust is thoroughly removed.

2. Is Shield Technology Rust Remover safe for use on non-ferrous metals?

Yes, Shield Technology Rust cleaner is safe for use on non-ferrous metals. Its formulation targets rust on ferrous metals without harming other metal types. This makes it a versatile solution for many projects, ensuring that items containing ferrous and non-ferrous metals can be treated without damage.

3. Does Shield Technology Rust Remover prevent post-treatment 'flash rusting'?

Yes, Shield Technology Rust Remover removes existing rust and leaves the surface passivated. This passivation process helps prevent post-treatment 'flash rusting,' ensuring the treated metal remains clean and rust-free for a period after treatment. For long-term protection, it is recommended to apply a product like Shield Technology MetalGuard Ultra.

4. How do I best apply Shield Technology Rust Remover?

For optimal results, Shield Technology Rust Remover should be applied to the rusted area with a brush or immersed entirely if the item size permits. Ensure that the rusted surface is fully covered with the solution. For items with intricate parts or hard-to-reach areas, a soaking method is preferred. After treatment, rinse the item with water and dry it thoroughly.

5. How should I dispose of the rust remover solution after use?

After using Shield Technology Rust Remover, disposal is straightforward and environmentally safe. You can simply pour the used solution down the drain. The formulation of this rust cleaner is such that it will not harm the environment during disposal. Its eco-friendly nature ensures that you're taking care of your tools and the planet.

6. Is Shield Technology Rust Remover environmentally friendly?

Yes, Shield Technology Rust Remover is designed with the environment in mind. The solution and its residue are biodegradable, making it a safe choice for both the user and the planet. Its formulation allows for easy disposal down the drain without negative environmental impact, aligning with eco-friendly practices.

7. Where is Shield Technology Rust Remover formulated and produced?

Shield Technology Rust Remover is formulated and produced in the United Kingdom. The company specialises in creating high-quality, environmentally safe rust cleaning and tool maintenance products. Their commitment to sustainability and effectiveness is reflected in the production of this rust remover, ensuring users receive a reliable and environmentally conscious product.

8. How long will Shield Technology Rust Remover keep my surface rust-free?

After treatment with Shield Technology Rust Remover, the surface is left passivated, which helps to prevent immediate flash rusting. However, for extended protection against further corrosion, it is recommended to use one of Shield Technology's protective products, such as MetalGuard Ultra, VanGuard, or ToolGuard. These products are designed to complement the rust remover and offer long-term defence against rust and corrosion on treated surfaces.
