TurnTex Woodworks
TurnTex, LLC is a small, full-time family business located in Central Texas, serving as the primary source of income for a family of three and employing two full-time workers. The business is owned by Curtis O. Seebeck, who takes immense pride in his workmanship, believing that only the best quality, customer service, and support will suffice. He treats his customers with respect, aiming to exceed the level of service he would expect for himself.
Curtis is a pioneer and leading authority in the field of stabilizing and casting, with TurnTex, LLC at the forefront of the industry through several key innovations:
- Cactus Juice Stabilizing Solutions: Curtis was the first to offer an affordable DIY stabilizing resin and dedicated vacuum chambers to meet all stabilizing needs.
- Alumilite Casting Resin: He was the first to use Alumilite Casting Resins for woodturning, helping to establish it as a mainstream casting product.
- Alumilite Clear Casting Resin: This formulation of Alumilite Casting Resin was developed based on Curtis’s needs and feedback provided to the owner of The Alumilite Corporation. He conducted all the initial testing, evaluating seven different versions to achieve the properties most important to woodworkers.
- Worthless Wood: Curtis created the technique, now commonly known as hybrid blanks, of casting wood and resin combinations to form unique hybrid blanks. He first shared this technique with the woodturning community in 2006 through his article "Worthless Wood - Salvaging Otherwise Worthless Wood with Pressure Casting," and it has since been adopted by thousands of craftspeople worldwide.
- Original Cactus Blank™: Curtis was the first to cast prickly pear cactus in Alumilite Resin, creating unique blanks for pen turning, knife making, and other uses.
In addition to his role as an innovator, Curtis is actively involved in teaching stabilizing and casting across the country. He has taught hundreds of people from around the world, both in his shop and at numerous clubs, schools, and symposiums, including:
